LIVE ON THE BIG SCREEN
UFC 290 – SUNDAY 9 JULY, 2.00PM
You’ve asked for more LIVE screenings of international sporting events to enjoy in the sports hall. We have listened, and we’re excited to kick off this request with the UFC 290 Championship Challenge.
Starting off at 2.00pm the main event is a champion verses champion fight between Australian Alexander Volkanovski verses Yair Rodriguez.
The co-main event is another champion fight, Brandon Moreno verses Alexandre Patoja. Then in the lightweight challenge, New Zealander Dan Hooker verses Jalin Turner.
WHAT IS UFC 290
The Ultimate Fighting Championship, or UFC 290 for the 2023 season, is the largest mixed martial arts competition in the world. The UFC showcases the best international fighters using a variety of martial arts styles and disciplines.
Mixed martial arts are a blend of several traditional martial arts styles that include various wrestling techniques. Some of the most notable stylistic influences include Boxing, Kickboxing, Tae Kwon Do, Freestyle Wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu and Judo.

Chef Steve and Dan are getting creative in the kitchen, to provide you with the perfect bar snack sustenance to enjoy during the event, including nachos, chilli dog ‘n’ chips; or a bucket o’ chicken wings.
Bring your mates down and settle in from midday with a beer and a delicious snack. Then prepare to be entertained from 2.00pm with big screen live sports – all here at your Lyttelton Club.
